Making a difference
Our volunteers enhance the patient and visitor experience at Medway, and we’d be lost without them.
Volunteering at our hospital offers you the chance to make our environment friendlier and more comfortable for patients, relatives and visitors. We ask volunteers to offer a regular commitment to their role and, in return, we provide an exciting opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and make a difference to people’s lives.
Volunteer roles
Our volunteers offer their time in a variety of roles including:
- On wards
- Reception areas and guiding
- Administration and clerical roles
- Chaplaincy
- Gardening
- Therapy dogs
- Dementia Buddies.
League of Friends volunteers:
- Café and shop
- Hospital Radio Medway.
Applying to be a volunteer
All volunteers are given a full induction, and training sessions are provided to help them in their role.
Anyone with an interest in health and wellbeing and is over the age of 18 is welcome to apply to be a hospital volunteer. The League of Friends accept applications from those aged 16 and over.
“It is a privilege to manage and work with the Volunteers at Medway. They are a caring and compassionate group of people who give their all to helping others.”
