The Sunderland Day Case Centre, named after the famous flying boats once built on the River Medway, is a specialist unit within Medway Maritime Hospital where medical procedures and operations can be carried out without the need for patients to stay in hospital overnight.

Surgery specialist units are located throughout the hospital site.
