Occupational therapy provides support to people whose health prevents them doing the activities that matter to them. An occupational therapist can identify strengths and difficulties you may have in everyday life, such as dressing or getting to the shops, and will help you work out practical solutions.
The occupational therapists based within this team provide specialist assessment, treatment, advice and education. If assessed as needed to enable a patient to be discharged from hospital they also organise provision of appropriate equipment. When necessary, they carry out access visits or pre-discharge home visit assessments as part of the discharge planning process.
Referrals are accepted from consultants and other members of ward multi-disciplinary teams. Find out more about our services by asking the nurse in charge on your ward.
