Here at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, we believe that no patient should have to wait to receive the care they need. In order to help achieve this, we’ve created a care coordination centre which uses state-of-the-art technology to show us instantly what beds are available at any time anywhere across our hospital sites (Medway Maritime Hospital and Sheppey Frailty Unit based at Sheppey Community Hospital).
When you’re admitted for an inpatient stay a member of staff will attach a digital wristband to your wrist in the same way they do a patient name band which you will also wear during your stay with us.
Wearing the digital wristband connects you to our system and allows our care coordination centre to allocate you a bed in the right area of clinical speciality ensuring you get the right care in the right place at the right time.
You will only wear the digital wristband while you are staying with us.
When you are ready to go home the digital wristband will be removed by a member of staff and placed in a dropbox. This then automatically discharges you on our system and notifies the care coordination centre that your bed is now ready to be cleaned by our dedicated Bed Turnaround Team ahead of the next patient being admitted on to the ward.
If you have been discharged and you are still wearing the digital wristband please return to the hospital and make your way to the main entrance where you can place the wristband in a dropbox. If you need assistance please make your way to the reception desk.
If you would like to know more about your digital wristband or the Medway Care Coordination Centre, please speak to the healthcare professional providing you with your band or the manager of the ward or department you are staying on.
