“Our main aim is to provide inpatients with entertainment and information during their stay. We are run entirely by volunteers who go around the wards of the hospital, taking requests from patients,” Eunice Norman, Chair of Hospital Radio Medway explains.
“Programmes are run 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cover all musical tastes. Our flagship programme is the Request Show, which is on from 8pm to 10pm and then repeated the next morning.
“As well as being part of Medway Maritime Hospital, the radio station is a vital part of our wider community. We give local music acts the opportunity to be heard on our Live Sessions show, on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.
“Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to apply to become a volunteer with us. Over the years, many people have come to work at the radio station and enjoyed the sense of reward that comes from learning new skills and being part of a team.”
