Since its launch in October last year, Medway Maritime Hospital’s online patient portal, Patients Know Best has helped more than 150,000 people in Medway access their own hospital appointments and health information.
The portal aims to support a smoother experience for patients, giving them a single handy place to access their appointment letters and make changes to their upcoming care.
Daniel Robinson, who lives in Chatham, is one of the patients who has signed up to the online portal.
He said: “I really like the Patients Know Best app because it allows me to see my upcoming appointments instantly.
“It also allows me to read any letters or correspondence from the consultant and not have to wait for the letters to be posted.”
People can use Patients Know Best to view appointments, appointment letters, discharge summaries and more, by quickly registering through the NHS app or the dedicated Patients Know Best website for Medway.
Gavin MacDonald, Chief Delivery Officer, Medway NHS Foundation Trust said: “Patients Know Best was introduced here at Medway, helping us make it easier for people to access their health records which is one of our key priorities.
“Reaching more than 150,000 registrations is a great milestone for us as we continue to put our patients first, as well as working to develop the portal further.”
People will soon be able to view results letters from different specialities such as radiology and pathology, as well as waiting list referrals.
Using the new portal also supports the hospital’s Green Plan by reducing the number of letters sent out, as patients will be able to quickly access vital appointment and clinical information digitally which minimises delays with a reduced carbon footprint.
Registering for Patients Know Best is easy, through the NHS app by downloading it from the App Store or Google Play or logging in through the NHS website. You can also register through the dedicated Patients Know Best site.
