New online patient engagement portal available in Medway

Patients at Medway NHS Foundation Trust are now able to access their own hospital appointments with the launch of a new online patient engagement portal Patients Know Best (PKB).

The Trust joins three other Trusts in Kent and Medway in offering the Patients Know Best portal which aims to support a smoother experience for patients, giving them a single handy place to access their appointment letters and make changes to their upcoming care.

Gavin MacDonald, Chief Delivery Officer said: “I’m delighted we are able to offer Patients Know Best to people in Medway. Introduced by the Trust to improve patient care, it is accessible on a range of devices and at any time.

“Providing the best of care to our patients is a key priority for us and Patients Know Best will allow patients to manage their healthcare records and control who they share information with at all times.”

Chris Marsh, Head of Account Management for Patients Know Best said: ‘We are delighted with the rapid progress which has been made in this deployment, with over 124,000 patients registered in the first month. In parallel with the system going live, the Waiting List Validation functionality has been stood up very quickly, meeting the national priority’s tight deadline.

“We look forward to replicating this pace and success in the clinical transformation phase of the project which is already well underway. This will bring around many more benefits for patients and enable cross working opportunities with neighbouring Trusts who are also embracing their patient engagement portal journeys through Patients Know Best.”

Registering for Patients Know Best is easy, through the NHS app by downloading it from the App Store or Google Play or logging in through the NHS website. You can also register through the dedicated Patients Know Best website.
