The Trust was pleased to host the Mayor of Medway Cllr Nina Gurung earlier this month as she officially opened the Medway League of Friends First Rate Café and Shop.
Cllr Gurung unveiled a commemorative plaque and cut a celebratory cake alongside Medway League of Friends Chair Janet Harsent.
The much awaited major refurbishment of the shop took place earlier this year, with it reopening as the First Rate Café and Shop in June and an aim to bring visitors and patients a greater choice of refreshments and an improved shopping experience.
It now offers patients, visitors and staff an improved layout and seating for better accessibility, a new barista style coffee area and a range of hot and chilled foods.
The Trust has a long relationship with the Friends and since 1995, they have provided funding of over £5m to purchase equipment and much needed items to support patient care which is a fantastic amount and really makes such a difference to the experience of our patients.
The Trust’s Chief Executive Jayne Black and Acting Chair Mark Spragg thanked representatives of Medway League of Friends, the shop contractors for improving the facilities for patients, visitors and staff.
