A family fun day organised by Ann McKinnon, a Play Specialist at Medway Maritime Hospital has raised £6,071.52 for charity.
Opened by children’s entertainer Mister Maker, hundreds of people attended the fun day held at Gillingham Football Club on Saturday 1 June. It was supported by staff at the club, Medway Maritime Hospital, Hospital Radio Medway, St John Ambulance and dozens of volunteers.
Ann McKinnon, who wanted to raise money for the children’s ward she works at and for the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, who have looked after her daughter for 18 years said: “Thank you to my amazing support network who helped me organise and run this event, to Phil Gallagher (Mister Maker) and to Gillingham Football Club for allowing us to use its venue.
“All their staff and my army of volunteers were amazing, working tirelessly to make this event such a success and I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Donna Law, Manager of The Medway Hospital Charity, said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to support the Family Fun Day. Both hospital charities will receive an incredible £3,000 to make a difference to their patients.
“Thanks to Ann’s dedication to her department, we will be using this money to support a new sensory room on Dolphin Ward.”
